Ridgeway - Ivinghoe to Coombe Hill (11th April 2006)
Well we did the first part from Ivinghoe to Coombe Hill, through Tring, Wigginton, Hastoe, Wendover. Just over 14 miles on the OS map, which turned in to about 16 miles on the pedometer - oh those hills :-(
The weather was pretty foul, started off very windy and by the middle and later stages, we were also getting lots of rain, which made the final climb up Coombe Hill a wee bit on the slippy side !!
Down the hill side heading towards Tring, crossed over the old and the new, i.e. the Grand Union canal and the main railway line.
Stopped for lunch and copious amounts of lovely hot tea in an excellent pub in Wigginton, "The Greyhound". They were really welcoming, especially as I'd have second thoughts seeing three soaking / dripping people march into your nice clean pub.
It is also a thai resturant, so I had a "Chicken satay baguette" for lunch, really good, the satay sauce wasn't mega-sweet. Good value at £4.50
They kept refilling the tea pot, which as anyone who knows me, just made my day :-)
