Ridgeway - Lewknor to Wallingford, at least that was the plan (16th April 2006)

Yippe, another reasonable looking day on the weather

The three of us set off from the same "unofficial/unmarked" car park as last time, basically the grass verge just past the ridgeway

The trail is now a major track, 20 to 30 feet wide, unlike some of the one person width sections back in the hills between Tring, Wendover and Princes Risborough. Nice to be walking away from the noise of the M4 motorway, rather than towards it.

Walking along sort of paralleling the ridgeway, moving through a series of hills and valleys, heading for the Thames

Time was getting on towards 2pm and as it was a Sunday, we were getting concerned that the pub would have stopped serving food, even on an Easter Sunday. Rushed on as fast as we could and managed to get to the pub by about 2:10. Glad to say they were serving to 3pm, so we stopped for lunch at The Crown, Nuffield

Ordered our meals and got pots of refreshing tea. Timing was even better as while we were sat there, a really big down pour occurred, it's so much nicer watching it from the comfort of a pub. Food arrived and we all tucked in, but unfortunately a friend who had joined us on the walk that day, took a turn for the worse, so much so that we had to get the ambulance out.

The landlady and staff were really helpful, even bringing out more tea and a nice chocholate tart/cake to take our minds off things

Glad to say the paramedic gave a reserved all-clear, and a kind gentleman gave us a lift back to the car at the Wallingford end of the walk, where it was parked in the grounds of Carmel College.

So the unplanned termination of the walk was at Nuffield :-(
