Wansdyke (9th April 2006)
As a warm-up for doing the Ridgeway and because it was a nice day, we looked for a spot to go out for a walk. I'd spotted "Wansdyke" on the maps before, so we decided to give it a bash
Well I'm glad to say it was a real "find", lovely rolling hills, nice and quiet (so nice after the noise of the M4 on the walk near Hungerford), and the very impressive "Wansdyke"
Not sure on the origins of Wansdyke, some suggest it's name comes from "Wodens Dyke" and it is Romano-Celtic around 600 AD
I'd really recommend the west section, actually maybe I shouldn't be, you'll all start walking it and spoil the quiet :-)
Some time we've got to do the other part leading up to and through Savenarke Forest.
